Biography Chris Parry PDF Print E-mail



Chris Parry completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (BFA)at the University of Canterbury in 2005 majoring in Painting.

The 4 year degree programme is a fulltime practical painting course with theory papers also contributing to the final grades. Since graduating in early 2006 Parry has relocated to Auckland and produced the animation for New Zealands award winning bro'Town series 4 and now returned to Christchurch to work in Landscaping and design. Chris continues to paint in his Christchurch studio and freelance doing design work.

Prior to returning to University in 2001 Chris worked in the broadcast design industry most recently spending 7 years at Television New Zealand as Creative Director for the Final 2 years - During this time he was responsible for the award winning graphic design for 'Lexus Sunday Theatre' among other projects. Before joining TVNZ Chris spent time working overseas after spending 5 years Designing and Art Directing TV3 Network On-Air Imagery such as the memorable 'Living Earth' and 'Nightline' Series. After 15years in the New Zealand broadcast industry working as a designer and creative director Chris has many years of multi-disciplined design experience achieving critical aclaim for several works over the years including a Broadcast Design Association Silver Award and many Qantas Media Awards and critical mentions. Landmark works such as the Living Earth Series for TV3 and the Montana Sunday Theatre and Lexus Sunday Theatre slots for TVNZ are but a few of the long list of television credits. Throughout this time Chris has also completed many design projects for print and web.

Parry has sold works through auction and private sale as well as through a Christchurch dealer gallery.
The Green Party fundraising auction 'The Great Art Auction' has listed and sold Parrys works at both of their recent events.
