Chris Parry attended University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts from 2003 - 2006. Majoring in Painting he graduated in 2007 with a Batchelors degree. Art School was a time of learning and experimentation, developing an understanding of Art both theoretically and in practice. Denis Dutton was (of course) an inspiration in Art Theory and Richard Bullen a great tutor for both years of study. The most important lecturer during university was undoubtedly Roger Boyce. Roger took over as Head of Painting during my 3rd year of study, he oversaw the development of my painting practice for the final 2 years of study. His knowledge of painting and art and the terminolgy used for accurate description of works was outstanding - his precise critique invaluable. Simon Ogden was tutor for the first year and maintained a critical participation for the remaining years - his drawing classes were the best.

A special mention has to be made of 'Mandie' the temporary site-specific sculpture I installed in the Gender Studies foyer at the University of Canterbury. 'Mandie' was an installation of an engraved concrete Manhole chamber& with cast steel Manhole Cover (kindly donated and delivered by Hynds). This work was about gender specific language.
